I Choose the Bear
Show at Lost Weekend Meets Young Art, Munich, Germany, December 9, 2025 – January 24, 2026.
“I Choose the Bear” is a series of four photographs created by artists Milena Wojhan, Claudia Holzinger, and Veronika Günther, conceived specifically for the window display presentation of Lost Weekend meets Young Art in Munich.
Initiated by curator Jaemin Lee, the project follows the theme of “love” for the current LWMYA window exhibitions, supported by “Verbindungslinien” BBK Bayern.
Milena Wojhan and Claudia Holzinger developed ”I Choose the Bear” from a viral TikTok survey in which most women say they’d rather run into a bear than a man when walking alone in the forest. The two artists imagine a shared life between woman and bear—revealing how women’s care work shapes, educates, and “civilizes” the bear.
Having recently seen Veronika Günther’s translation of her drawings into two-dimensional cardboard costumes, the two artists invited her to collaborate. Through her costume work, the characters of the woman and the bear gain their distinctive visual presence.
The resulting collaborative work is a photographic narrative that weaves together elements of contemporary visual language, feminist perspectives, and performative costume design.
