Love me or die

2020, video, 37:56 min.

The drawings of the series »Love me or die« were first shown as a video projection–much like an automated slide show–at Akademiegalerie, a gallery space in a Munich subway station, as part of the exhibition project »akademiegaleriehomeoffice.de«. For the two months of June and July 2020, when museums and galleries were still mostly closed due to the corona pandemic, each day another artist’s or artist collective’s video was shown there. The projection had been customized to a 32:9 ratio to fit the back wall of the gallery space. The front of the gallery is all windows, so passersby on their way to and from the subway trains have a full view of the inside.

The movie »Love me or die«, my first contribution to the project, contained about 800 drawings that had been made between January and June 2020. They were all portrait format. For the two following videos »Nothing to say« and »Bright future« I used landscape format so that the projected drawings would take up the entire width of the projection. The three videos were shown on three separate days during the exhibition and are now available on Vimeo. Although the videos have different titles I consider all the drawings contained as part of one onging series.
